Comsight partnered with a landmark public park in Oceania to upgrade its curved outdoor ticker display, originally custom-designed and installed by Comsight more than 10 years ago.

In this project, Comsight upgraded a curved outdoor ticker display at a landmark public park in Oceania—boosting resolution, increasing brightness to 7,000 cd/m², and lowering power consumption—while keeping the original curved mounting system intact.

The legacy system had performed reliably in a high-sun coastal environment for over a decade. As the venue’s visual standards increased, the client needed better image clarity and stronger daylight visibility without rebuilding the structure.

That’s where our upgrade-ready design philosophy came into play.

Challenges for Upgrading a Curved Outdoor LED Display

Upgrading an outdoor curved LED system in a coastal sports environment comes with real engineering constraints. The team had to solve four key challenges:

Enhanced Visual Performance

The new display needed sharper resolution, finer detail, and stronger contrast to remain readable under intense daylight. In outdoor sports venues, glare and viewing distance can quickly wash out low-resolution screens.

Compatibility with Existing Curved Structure

The original curved mounting brackets were still structurally sound. Replacing them would increase cost and downtime. The new system had to align precisely with the existing curvature and support framework.

Easier Maintenance and Future Upgrade Flexibility

After ten years of operation, faster servicing became a priority. The client also wanted a structure that would allow future resolution upgrades without replacing cabinets.

Lower Power Consumption and Thermal Load

Brightness had to increase from 5,000 to 7,000 cd/m²—while reducing overall energy use and heat generation to improve long-term system stability.

Solution: Engineering a Next-Generation Curved Outdoor Ticker Display

To address these challenges, Comsight engineered a new-generation curved outdoor ticker display solution with comprehensive performance and structural upgrades.

1. Higher Resolution & Superior Image Quality

By adopting a smaller pixel pitch, the upgraded display significantly increased resolution, delivering sharper text, smoother motion, and finer graphics, while maintaining the original curved design.

2. Lens-Type LEDs for Higher Brightness & Efficiency

The system uses lens-type LED technology, increasing brightness from 5,000 cd/m² to 7,000 cd/m², improving contrast and visibility, while simultaneously reducing overall power consumption.

3. Front-Service Modular Design

The previous front-opening cabinet structure was replaced with a front-maintenance modular design, resulting in a lighter, simpler structure that allows faster access and easier servicing.

4. Standardized 320 × 320 mm Modular Architecture

The display is built with standardized 320 × 320 mm LED modules, enabling future upgrades to higher resolutions by replacing only the LED modules—without changing cabinets or mounting structures.

This standardized 320 × 320 mm architecture reflects Comsight’s long-term design philosophy: upgrade-ready, structure-preserving, and future-proof outdoor LED systems.

5. Cloud-Based Control & Secure Remote Management

Importantly, the entire solution was engineered to seamlessly integrate with the existing curved mounting brackets, avoiding structural redesign and ensuring a smooth upgrade process.
