A long-term customer in North America planned to replace an aging LED ticker installed behind the glass facade of a commercial building. The existing display had been in operation for many years and could no longer meet current visibility and content presentation requirements.
To improve readability, brightness, and visual impact, the customer decided to upgrade to a modern full-color LED ticker solution while retaining the existing installation location.
Project Overview
Comsight delivered a custom P8 full-color LED ticker display to replace the customer’s aging monochrome system while retaining the original installation location behind the building glass.
The upgrade improved resolution, brightness, and content flexibility, allowing scrolling messages to be displayed more clearly through the glass facade for pedestrians and passing traffic.
For commercial buildings, financial lobbies, retail facades, and other public-facing spaces, a high-brightness LED stock ticker display can turn long frontage into a clear channel for real-time messages. In this project, the key was also to fit the new display into the existing glass-wall structure with minimal modification.

Beyond the need for outdoor-level brightness through the glass facade, the project also involved an approximately 41-meter-long ticker with a customized corner and curved section. This created unique requirements for cabinet alignment, front-service maintenance, and installation within the existing building structure.
Technical Challenges for the Commercial Building LED Ticker Display
The main challenges were concentrated in four areas:
- Limited Installation and Maintenance Space
The installation environment presented significant maintenance challenges. Front operating space was very limited, while there was no maintenance access available from the rear side. This required a front-service LED ticker display that could be maintained from the visible side without changing the building structure.
- Slim and Lightweight Structure
The customer required the ticker display to be lightweight, slim, and easy to install. At the same time, the mounting brackets needed flexible adjustment capability to match the existing vertical mounting bars behind the glass façade, minimizing onsite structural modification work.
- Moisture Protection Requirement
Although the LED ticker display was installed indoors behind the glass façade, the customer also required enhanced moisture resistance to improve long-term operational reliability in the window-facing installation environment.
- Stable Playback Across an Ultra-Long Curved Ticker Display
The display measured around 41 meters in total length and included a customized corner with a curved section. This demanded accurate cabinet alignment, reliable signal distribution, and stable scrolling playback across the full H64 x W5120-pixel display.
Comsight’s Solution
Customized P8 LED Module Design
To match the existing installation dimensions, we specially developed a customized P8 LED module with H64 x W32 pixels.
The complete display resolution reached H64 x W5120 pixels in total, around 41 meters long, divided into 27 sections:
- H64 x W192 pixels x 26 sections
- H64 x W128 pixels x 1 section
This modular design allowed the new custom LED ticker display to fit the original display area precisely while improving resolution from H16 x W1280 pixels to H64 x W5120 pixels.
High-Brightness Outdoor SMD LEDs
To ensure strong visibility through the building glass, we adopted outdoor 2727 SMD LEDs with brightness up to 5,000 cd/m2. Compared with the old monochrome ticker, the new full-color RGB display provides sharper text, richer content options, and better visual impact for the building facade.
Moisture-Proof Coating Protection
To improve long-term durability and moisture resistance, the LED display boards were specially coated with a protective conformal coating layer.
This coating treatment helped protect the PCB and electronic components from moisture-related risks, improving overall operational stability and reliability.
Ultra-Slim Front-Service Cabinet Design
To meet the customer’s requirements for lightweight and slim construction, we adopted our front-service aluminum profile cabinet solution.
The cabinet thickness was only 48mm, significantly reducing structural depth while enabling convenient front maintenance access in the limited installation environment.
Customized Curved Structure with Flexible Angle Connectors
For the curved section of the ticker display, we developed a customized curved cabinet structure combined with adjustable angle brackets.
This solution allowed flexible curvature adjustment and ensured smooth visual continuity across the entire curved display section.
Reliable WZP Control System for Smooth Playback
To ensure stable operation across the ultra-long LED ticker display, we implemented our WZP asynchronous LED control system. The system delivered smooth, synchronized, and lag-free content playback across the entire 5120-pixel-wide display, including the customized curved section.
Results
The final curved LED Ticker Display delivered a major improvement in both visibility and presentation quality. The P8 full-color RGB display increased resolution, enhanced brightness through glass, and enabled more flexible content for the commercial building facade.
The 48mm front-service cabinet simplified installation and future maintenance, while the customized curved structure helped the display integrate naturally with the building’s existing architecture. With moisture-proof coating and stable WZP control, the final system provided the customer with a reliable, high-impact LED ticker display behind glass.
The customer was highly satisfied with the display performance, smooth scrolling effect, and Comsight’s customized engineering support.
